“Am I really getting on the plane?” she asked nervously.

“You just won’t get in,” Marco said. “You’re our honored guests.”

As everyone took their seats, Marc’s voice filled the cabin through the intercom.

“Ladies and gentlemen, we have someone special on board today. A woman who sold everything so her children could study aviation. Our mother.”

There was silence on the plane.

Paolo continued in a trembling voice.

“The bravest woman we know isn’t famous. She’s not rich. She’s the mother who believed in us when we had nothing.”

Applause broke out.

Some passengers wiped away tears.

Teresa clung to the armrest as the plane lifted off the runway.

As the wheels left the ground, she closed her eyes.

“I’m flying,” she whispered.

But the purpose of the trip was more than just the flight.

It was a fulfilled promise.
SURPRISE

After landing, they took her to Valle de Bravo.

Green hills stretched toward a shimmering lake. The air was fresh, almost surreal.

They stopped in front of a beautiful house overlooking the water.

Marco placed a bunch of keys in her hands.

“Mom… it’s yours.”

Paolo approached.

“You don’t have to work anymore. Now it’s our turn.”

Teresa fell to her knees, tears streaming down her face.

“It was worth it… every tamale, every sleepless night… everything.”

She walked slowly inside, touching the walls as if she was afraid the view would disappear.

She remembered the tin roof.
